Boat Registration

Boat Decal Mail-In Renewal Program - NEW!!!

"This initiative maintains our overall strategic vision to deliver the most effective and efficient services to the taxpayers of Pike County." - Judge Wes Allen

HOW THIS PROGRAM BENEFITS YOU:

  • Gives you, the taxpayer, an option as to how you conduct business with the probate office.
  • The boat decal renewal program will not change the month in which citizens normally renew their tag.
  • If a county resident had registered a boat last year, they can expect the courtesy renewal postcards in their mailbox during the first week of their renewal month.
  • No more standing in line.
  • WILL SAVE YOU TIME!

Any change to address will require boat owner to come to probate office to complete renewal.

THREE (3) IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN RENEWING YOUR BOAT DECAL BY MAIL:

  • Read the renewal postcard carefully.
  • Make sure the information is correct.
  • Sign the card & return the postcard with payment by the end of your renewal month.

Boats are not titled in Alabama . To register a boat you need a bill of sale. The information needed to register the boat is as follows:

  • AL Number if Previously Registered in Alabama
  • Decal Number if Registration is Current
  • Name and Address
  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Make of Boat
  • Length of Boat
  • Hull Number of Boat
  • Make of Motor
  • Horsepower of Motor
  • Serial Number of Motor

Should you purchase a boat that is currently registered in Alabama with a current decal, then that decal would be transferred into the new owner's name. There are no penalties on boat registrations or renewals. Boat registrations are not prorated. For example, if you register a boat in May and your normal renewal month is August you would pay the same fee in May and August.
